This program will equip students with the theoretical, technical and empirical background necessary for the fight against crime and how to effectively manage a security unit. The program will develop critical appreciation of the relationship between the individual and social aspects of crime and victimization and the police response to these issues. The program will utilize a variety of teaching and learning techniques in order to develop a range of transferable academic and practical skills. This programme has been designed for students intending to pursue a career in law enforcement agencies in public and private sectors.

  1. To define the theoretical, technical and empirical background of policing and criminology necessary for the fight against crime and how to effectively manage efficiently a security unit.
  2. To outline the principles which influence responses to crime both in theory and in practice, including restorative justice programmes as well as the punitive measures at the disposal of the legal system.
  3. To examine the social, historical, cultural and political contexts in which crimes are committed and constructed and in which policy responses to offenders and victims are produced.
  4. To integrate critical thinking on social, police, criminology and other the related fields.
  5. To evaluate and apply practical research skills and undertake independent research project work in the field of policing and criminology.
  6. To validate the student’s analytical, decision-making and communication competencies together with those qualities of self-reliance, responsibility, integrity and self-awareness which will promote personal achievement and contribution to law enforcement organizations.
  • A recognized Secondary School Leaving Certificate 
  • Proof of English language.

A system of continuous (course work) which is 50% and final Exams which is 50% and the Passing mark is 50%, as follows:

  • During the semester, the instructor evaluates the students through a) Course Work which consists of: Tests, assignments, individual or group project, mid-term exams and / or other tests. The average of the scores is the continuous assessment score.
  • The final examination is carried out at the end of the semester.
  • The Passing mark is: 50%

CDA College has further reinforced the practical aspects of the programme. In almost all modules of the program there are case studies on criminal matters which promote the in depth knowledge of the theories but also enhance the practical application. Furthermore, in order to gain more practical experience and training, the College enriched the program with more onsite visits to institutions related to the programme of studies so as to expose our students to fascinating educational activities. These activities can have a positive impact on a students’ education and attitude to learning inside and outside of the lecture room. The students will gain more practical knowledge of police management and crime control and achieve the planned learning objectives.
